This pattern is for a baby with approx 42cm head circumference. The pattern it is very easily adjustable to fit smaller or larger heads by adding or subtracting the repeats.
I used 3.5mm straight needles, but I knit quite loose. The gauge is not really that crucial for this pattern.
Cast on 14 stitches
Row 1 - knit
Row 2 - k3, p8, k3
Row 3 - knit
Row 4 - k3, p8, k3
Begin pattern repeat:
Row 1 - k
Row 2 - k3, p8, k3
Row 3 - k
Row 4 - k3, p8, k3
Row 5 - k3, sl next 2 stitches onto cn (held to the back), k2, k2 from cn, sl next 2 stitches onto cn (held to the front), k2, k2 from cn, k3
Row 6 - k3, p8, k3
Repeat pattern (rows 1 - 6) 17 times (more or less to suit size required)
Row 103 - knit
Row 104 - k3, p8, k3
Row 105 - knit
Row 106 - k3, p8, k3
Row 107 - cast off
Sew seam to join both ends of the headband and weave in ends.
